With regard to the camera itself, takes good images in good light. Do not have flash so you do not get much out of it, if used at night or in a dark room. The sun is shining and the image facing the right direction, you can take some of the highest quality. We have this vacuum. I have some incredible photographs I have not shot the Canon Elph.
The user interface is a bit 'confusing to understand at first seem a bit' tricky with a group of icons on the screen until you know what it really is just a basic point and shoot camera and the icon is there just saying. you know. What we're working on. (How many minutes you have saved, or what your level of zoom, for example).
It comes with a small amount of internal memory. I suggest you take an SD card with a reasonable amount of memory so you do not have to be transferred to the post. If you are planning a long journey for some, the last thing we want is the SD card runs out of memory as soon as things start to get interesting. (Speaking from experience).
It takes a really good video / under the water and the water does not change or affect the operation of the mechanism of the camera from my experience. I took more pictures and videos and scuba diving in the waves of the sea that I have in a dry environment. The camera still works as good as it was the first day I got it.
Continue to use this camera for outdoor photos is fully active until you can not use more then likely buy another.
EDIT: Please note that videos are part of this review is of much higher quality when viewed directly from a memory card. Even if you upload a better resolution here, and it looks grainy and pixelated video is actually pretty clear - you can even see the sea in the distance, beyond the hills. This camera produces high-quality video than meets the eye.
